Plans for a new production line at Norðurál and increased demand for green aluminum are among the topics discussed in an interview with Jesse Gary, CEO of Century Aluminum, in Morgunblaðið.

if all smelters in the world produced aluminum in the same way as the smelters in Iceland, 550 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent would be saved per year. Iceland's total emissions amount to 4.5 millions per year.

Landsvirkjun, Iceland‘s national power company, and Norðurál have signed an amended power contract which provides a three year extension to the previous one, and supports a more diverse production and future growth.

Norðurál and Akranes Golf Course, have renewed their co-operation agreement. Norðurál has funded the golf course in Akranes over the years and has had a good collaboration with the golf club.

Gunnar Guðlaugsson, Norðurál's CEO, has been hired to manage Century Aluminum's smelters in Europe and North America. Gunnar's new title is "Executive Vice President, Global Operations".

Norðurál has finalized the sale of 150,000 metric tons of Natur‐Al™ aluminum over five years to Austrian firm Hammerer Aluminium Industries.
