Norðurál has implemented green accounting to its operations, which is a comprehensive record of all materials sent to and from the aluminum smelter. The Green Accounting clearly shows that we have achieved significant results in all areas. From improved utilization of raw materials to recycling of organic waste in the canteen.

We produced 312.600 tonnes of aluminum and aluminum alloys in 2020. Emissions of sulfur decreased by 8% between years and diesel usage has decreased by 77.600 liters or by 14.3% since 2015.
